RSPCA buildingWhy contact RSPCA?

RSPCA is Canberra's only full service animal welfare agency. We handle more than 70,000 phone calls and 100,000 visitors to our facility annually. Please read this information carefully, our priority is to assist homeless or injured animals and animals in distress.

We are a community run charifty and do not receive a lot of government funding, about 13% of our annual budget.  What funding the government does give us is for the delivery of government services, such as looking after stray dogs and cats, animal cruelty inspections and wildlife management.

Most of our services are provided free of charge, although a donation to us does help with sustaining these services. Charges apply to surrender an animal or to reclaim a lost animal. These fees are necessary to allow us to keep these services running - imagine that one day you may need the RSPCA - so please respect our staff and volunteers and the fees that apply. Our main interest is caring for neglected, abandoned and injured animals.

Lost and uninjured stray animals, dog barking complaints, dog attacks, roaming companion animals should be reported to Domestic Animal Services on 02 6207 2424 or the Territory and Municipal Services Directorate. RSPCA can not assist with collecting or picking up free roaming animals, stray animals or deceased animals.

We rely on the community to help us keep these services running. Support your local RSPCA by clicking here to donate now, or make a donation when you next visit. Your donation will go a long way to ensuring we can continue to provide these services, just think, one day you may need RSPCA.
