Education
At the heart of RSPCA ACT’s mission is animal welfare education. The RSPCA ACT education program is designed to promote the humane and compassionate care of animals. Our program ties in with the ACT curriculum, most notably by discussing values such as caring, kindness and responsibility.
There are two ways to participate in our education program:
Classroom Presentations
A qualified education officer can visit your school.
Topics covered during the presentation include:
• What RSPCA ACT does
• Pet ownership and responsibilities
• A follow up teacher activity pack
Register your interest by completing this form. We will then contact you to arrange a suitable date and time. Please note that visits can only be made by prior arrangement and that a booking fee of $495 applies.
Shelter Tours
You can plan a visit to our shelter located in Weston. Upon your arrival an education officer will take you through the shelter for a guided tour followed by an information session and a workshop. A follow up teacher activity pack will be provided.
A maximum of 20 children can be accommodated at one time. We do require at least one carer or supervisor per 10 children.
