RSPCA Aims to ‘Clear the Shelter’ this weekend

RSPCA ACT is aiming to clear the shelter this Friday and Saturday (22 and 23 February) with animals being available for adoption at a heavily discounted fee of $29. Last year, every animal which was available for adoption found their forever homes. ‘Clear the Shelter’ is a national RSPCA initiative and shelters in VIC, SA, ACT, NSW and QLD are all participating. Fireworks can be a scary and confusing time for our pets so we’ve put together a list of things you can do to help them cope. Make sure your dog or cat is microchipped and wearing an ID tag with your phone number on it, in case they become lost. It’s a good idea to keep them indoors if possible. Temperatures are at a high and RSPCA ACT has seen a number of animals needing urgent medical attention due to heatstroke and being left in hot cars. RSPCA ACT seeking owners of kitten with ruptured eye

RSPCA ACT is seeking the owner of a young kitten that was brought into the RSPCA ACT Shelter after being found by good Samaritans at a Fyshwick service station. The kitten will need surgery to remove the eye and scar tissue that was likely caused by either a serious injury, infection or ulcer. As a result, the eye has died. The RSPCA ACT veterinary staff have affectionately referred to her as Turtle until we discover her true identity and has been impressed with her tenacious spirit.
