Gifts in Wills
Animals give you a better life. You can leave them a better world.
The love you feel for your pets and compassion you have for all animals. Your desire to see them live free from cruelty and neglect. We share these intrinsic values, that’s what it means to be an animal lover.
At any given time, RSPCA ACT cares for more than 200 animals while actively seeking to find them a safe and happy home. With only a small portion of secured annual funding it is difficult to plan for a sustainable future. In recent years, Gifts in Wills have been essential in keeping our shelter doors open, resulting in great animal welfare outcomes in the ACT.
Gifts in Wills options
Together, we can build a better world for the animals we love.
After making provisions for those you want to provide for, you can help the animals you love so much through including a gift in your Will to RSPCA ACT. No matter the size of your gift it will help to leave animals a better world.
There are various ways you can include RSPCA ACT in your Will. The two main types of gifts our supporters leave:
- Percentage of your estate
Simply state in your Will what percentage of your estate you would like to be left to RSPCA ACT. Some people leave just a few percent. Some leave everything to animals.
- Residue of your estate
After gifts to others have been taken care of and all costs have been dealt with, the residue of your estate – everything that remains – is then left to RSPCA ACT to protect animals long into the future.
Your Will is an important document that must be properly prepared and executed. We recommend that you seek independent professional advice to make sure your Will is legal, valid and represents your intentions. If you are kind enough to be including a gift to RSPCA ACT in your Will, please ensure your Will contains the correct wording.

RSPCA has partnered with Australia’s highest rated online Will writing platform, Safewill. It takes 20 minutes and once completed, you will know you would have joined a community of likeminded people wanting to help change the lives animals in need.
You would have given them the second chance they deserve – you would have given them a better life and changed their world forever.
Gifts left in Wills help us provide for almost two out of every three animals who come through our doors every year. They make a huge difference and give us the confidence to know we can continue to help those in need for many years to come.

“My first time dealing with RSPCA was in Adelaide, I went there with my husband to adopt a pet. I wanted to bring home 20 animals but my husband very firmly said no, so we left with nothing. The next day my husband went back to the RSPCA without my knowledge and brought home the ugliest mutt, who turned out to be a gorgeous dog...

“How could I make my will and not think of the RSPCA ACT as a beneficiary?
I adopted my black Burmese cat, Bubbles, from the RSPCA ACT eight years ago, along with his unusual name. He has been an affectionate, fascinating and very healthy friend. As I write, he is now only nine years old so, hopefully, he has another nine to go...

“We are leaving a gift to RSPCA ACT in our Will because we believe in their goals, caring for all animals.
We have chosen our pets from the RSPCA ACT and as anyone with a pet knows, they are more than pets, they are family...
RSPCA ACT developed the Home Ever After program because life is unpredictable, and we all worry about our pets. Have you thought about who would look after your pets if the circumstances arose that you can no longer physically care for them?
