EDUCATION

Thank you for your interest in animal welfare education with RSPCA ACT. Education plays an important role in creating safer, more compassionate communities for animals, and we appreciate everyone who takes the time to connect with us.

Temporary Pause on Incursions and Group Visits

At this time, RSPCA ACT is unable to schedule school incursions, shelter education visits, or group education sessions.

We are currently experiencing a significant increase in the level of support required by our community to help people care for their pets. This reflects growing pressures on families and a growing need for practical, compassionate assistance that helps keep animals healthy, safe, and with the people who love them.

Education Opportunities Still Available

All enquiries will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account our current capacity and the outcomes being sought.

During this time, we are also redeveloping and strengthening our education programs so that when they return, they are more impactful, inclusive, and accessible than ever. We look forward to a future where RSPCA ACT and the Canberra community can access a safe, inclusive, purpose-built education space through our proposed new Animal Welfare Campus

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of animal welfare education.

Our Current Focus: Community Support and Early Intervention

Over the next 12–18 months, our focus is on strengthening and expanding proactive, early-intervention programs that support both people and their pets. These include:

  • Pre-Surrender Support, helping pet owners explore options and access assistance before surrender becomes necessary
  • Emergency Boarding for people experiencing crisis
  • Community Pet Pantry, providing essential pet supplies to families in need
  • Veterinary assistance programs for pet owners facing financial hardship

These services help prevent animal welfare concerns from escalating and play a vital role in keeping pets safely within their families and communities.
