Sarge and Ranger

Hopefully you never have to see a dog with its rib cage and spine protruding. It’s heart breaking and something that should never occur. But severe emaciation was just the tip of the iceberg for Sarge and Ranger.
Almost every single bone in their bodies were visible . The way a skinny, starved dog who can barely lift their head looks at you, almost pleading for food, will break your heart every time.
After a few months Sarge had gained a quarter of body weight, which is extraordinary with Ranger matching him, adding nearly 8 kgs to his thin body in his time with us (26.7 kgs, up from 18.7 kgs).
Ranger soon found a great owner and a home after about three months in our care, but poor Sarge, the older of the two, remained for much longer.
Finally, a gentleman with plenty of free time met Sarge and the miracle that we knew was possible, happened, just like that, right before our eyes! The man was interested in a different animal he’d seen on our website, but Sarge was in a larger yard at that time and the two met.
