We like to keep things cheery (even drop in a few rooster jokes from time to time) but today’s article is a bit more solemn.
We have to tell you about Jock and don’t get us wrong, he’s an amazing boy, great with people, good with other dogs and everything you’d want. He’s a joy! It’s solemn because we’re just so bummed out that a dog like Jock is spending time with us. He doesn’t belong here.
Jock is a bit hard of hearing and living in his twilight years. He’s an old boy who’s done his share of racing around and now needs a peaceful, calm environment to truly enjoy his old age.
This boy’s smile will get you and he’s super-social, this guy wants to be everyone’s best friend. But at this stage of his life he needs a companion, someone to settle down with and enjoy the love that flows from his pores (paws?). Is that you?

Mia is a sweetheart and fairly new to our shelter. She’s a young (seven months) Rhodesian Ridgeback with delightful eyes, reserved temperament and a need to be around people.
She gets a little shy at first, you see Mia hasn’t had the opportunity to explore the world and we’d really like her to have that opportunity. But she already knows how to how to sit, drop, shake, and play fetch.
Oh, and those ears! Let me be a Star Wars nerd for a moment and say they resemble the folding wings of the Lambda Shuttle – the one in Return of the Jedi that Darth Vadar gets about in. Mia’s ears fold upwards just the same as when Darth pulls up and parks at the Death Star IGA.
We’d love for you to meet Mia. Enjoys playing with other dogs and we’re certain she’ll blossom into a wonderful family pet.
