The role of a cattery cleaner is critical for the wellbeing and happiness of cats and kittens living at the shelter and includes cleaning and feeding. This role is to assist staff in making sure the living arrangements for all our animals are pleasant, safe and sanitary.
Shift time: 8:30-10:30; 13:30-15:30
Key Duties:
- Cleaning of cat enclosures and cat carriers
- Replenishing water, food, bedding and toys
- Washing of equipment, washing and drying of food bowls, litter trays, enrichment items and toys
- Laundry tasks inclusive of washing/drying/folding
- Handling of cats and kittens
- Reporting and communicating any signs of illness, injury or behaviour matters to animal care staff.
The role of a cattery laundry assistant is to ensure that the cats in our cattery have access to clean towels, linen, bedding and enrichment items.
Shift time: flexible from 10:00
Key Duties:
- Sorting of items to be washed and loaded into industrial washing machines
- Hanging washed items onto lines to dry
- Removing dried items from washing lines
- Folding and putting away clean laundry ready for use
- Discarding of heavily soiled or damaged items
The role of a cattery socialiser is critical for the wellbeing and happiness of the cats and kittens in our care. Socialisation is about being with our shelter animals, so they have the opportunity to have daily positive interaction with a variety of people. Familiarity with humans and handling increases the likelihood of successful adoption.
Shift time: 13:30-15:30 (Public Cat Boarding assistant 11:00-13:00)
Key Duties:
- Handling and socialisation of cats and kittens, includes appropriate play
- Reporting and communicating any signs of illness, injury or behaviour matters to animal care staff
