You will go onto Santa’s ‘NICE’ list for sure!
The RSPCA ACT shelter is chockers full of many wonderful pups, some who will be spending their first ever Christmas in a kennel.
While staff and volunteers will still be on site as usual on public holidays, the organisation is seeking short-term homes over this period to give it’s animals the experience of warmth and love.
CEO Michelle Robertson said with the Shelter closed over a series of public holidays and therefore no chance of the dogs and puppies finding new homes, the organisation is asking suitable families and persons to open their homes to a four-legged guest.
“Truthfully the thought of these poor dogs and puppies spending those public holidays over Christmas here in their kennels makes me quite sad.”
“In foster care, these dogs would have a magical time and at very least, by letting them experience the normality and routines of a caring family home, you’ll be helping them for when they finally find a forever home,” said Ms Robertson.
RSPCA ACT is hosting an information session at it’s animal Shelter in Weston on Tuesday, 17th of December at 5:30pm ahead of two proposed foster-care periods of:
- Monday 23rd Dec – Friday 27th Dec (4 nights minimum)
- Saturday 28th Dec – Thursday 2nd Jan (5 nights minimum)
RSPCA ACT staff are determined to match applicants with the ideal canine pairing, depending on factors including family, existing pets, capability, yard size and more.
“Foster caring is one of the most positive and rewarding experiences you can do and the difference you’ll be making to a dog’s life is immeasurable,” she said.
“I’m also pretty certain that the personality of some of these great dogs will add a little-extra-special something to your Christmas experience as well.”
RSPCA ACT will supply all required food, equipment, toys, blankets, enrichment and advice to make your canine foster-care experience as enjoyable as possible.
